AM5728: IBIS file issue with Altium

Part Number: AM5728

I need to perform a signal integrity analysis of a design with Altium Designer (17.0.9) including an AM5728 processor.

When I try to import the simulation file AM572.ibs, Rev. 1.3.4 there are a couple of errors:

1. the tool is reporting an error about the letters of the file name (fixed by using lowercase letters)
2.  the tool is reporting for some lines that the lenght is exceeded (truncation to 71 characters) fixed by deleting of some characters
3. after (1.+2.) the import runs to some point where the tool crashes with an access violation. I try to validate the file with another tool (IBIS validator by IOmeth ) and this tool crashes as well so there seems to be an issue with the file?

  • The IBIS experts have been notified. They will respond here.
  • Hi,

You are correct about the upper case characters in the file name. That problem must have been created when the header was cleaned up. I'm not seeing any issues associated with the line lengths. This is an IBIS v5 model which has a line length limit of 120 characters as per the v5.0 specification. If your tool is flagging lines above 80 characters then it may be expecting an IBIS v4.0 model. We don't have a model using that version of IBIS.

    Regards,

    Bill
