Do you just need to reset the network interface, or a remote power cycle of the BBB board?
I assume you are asking for a 2nd pre-defined network config so that the BBB comes up with a fixed IP address to access remotely. Is that correct?

Hi Lali,

the am335x is on placed in a hard-to-reach place and its main task is acting as a server, sending some data via tcp packages. The most common use-case is to configure the device (IP, server settings etc.) via a small webppage hosted on the am335x. But it might happen that the user is non aware of the custom configured IP address and therefor needs to access the webpage to configure the network interface of the am335x. In my opinion the easiest way would be the 2nd pre-defined network config with a static IP/SN.
To find another solution I tried a little workaround with sending a UDP Broadcast to the global IP 255.255.255.255 from a second host and changing the current IP address of the am335x after reading a little "magic number". After changing the IP address I currently have the problem that the device is not accessible if there was an active link before the change. I tried to restart the network interface, but I am still hanging on finding a valid way to do that without restarting my device.

It seems that the NDK does not support IP aliasing.

Could you use another Ethernet port on the BBB? perhaps a USB Ethernet module and have that as an admin interface?

Hi Lali,

i noticed the e2e topics regarding ip aliasing i had the hope that this feature has been implemented since the last post in this topics. The bbb is only a dev board and the device I am planing respectively working on will have only one Ethernet port due to its needed small formfactor.

Could you provide me a small example to restart the ndk during rtos runtime? This would help me a lot and would make ip aliasing unnecessary in my use case.

I studied a lot of older topics (including the one you posted) and tried the "solutions" that where described there, but got none of them working for me. Is there no proper solution for restarting NDK?

The NDK can be restarted by calling the following function (1 == reboot):

I allready tried the NC_NetStop(1) in addition with a ip-address change but the device is not pingable afterwards.
Here is my procedure:
- I start the networkinterface and open up the UDP-Echo daemon in the NetworkOpen_hook(). The IP-settings are configured in project's config file.
-Meanwhile i ping the device which is directly connected to my laptop.
- I get an echo from the preconfigured ip address after the network startup procedure .
- I start a Task:
