AM5728: Downloading DSP app from ARM under Linux

Hi,

I'm reading the following wiki:

In this example, C66 IPC app has been download via CCS. I just wanted to know the way to download the executable from A15 running Linux.
On KeyStoneII platform, we have mpmcl utility to achieve it. Do you support it on AM572x platform ?

As far as I know, there's no support for mpmcl utility. However you can use remoteproc kernel module to manage external (to cortex) cores. You can check this thread for some details. https://e2e.ti.com/support/arm/sitara_arm/f/791/t/551996

In short:

1. You should declare your cores and reserved memory in dts file (if you're using evaluation board, then all work is already done)

2. You should build executable firmware in elf format.

2.1 Executable file should contain "resource table" section with MMU configuration

3. You should copy or make symlink for your firmware in folder /lib/firmware/(something, look for details).xe66

4. Reboot device or write (address).dsp > bind or unbind in kernel sysfs management directory

5. Check dmesg for core initialization status

Hi, Naoki,

What Dmitry said is correct. Remoteproc will automatically download the binary to DSP when Kernel boot up if the binary exists in the /lib/firmware. Please refer to IPC Quick Start Guide to see if the info helps. http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Processor_SDK_IPC_Quick_Start_Guide
