OMAP3530 No response from serial port

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP3530

Hi all,

I started working on a Mistral OMAP3530 EVM 2 days ago. I followed the GSG: OMAP35x_DVEVM_Software_Setup guide and everything went smoothly.

I changed the bootargs and successfully booted the board using NFS.

However, after i turned off the board and turned it on again (without any other hardware and software modification), i got no response on minicom. I also tried HyperTerminal on a Windows PC and got no response as well.

I'm frustrated as i can't even get to the U-Boot. Is there any suggestion that i can do with the board?

Thanks,

Jones

  • Hi,

Can you please mention which version of the DVSDK are you using? One thing that can be causing this a corrupted NAND. In such a case, it would be useful to try booting from MMC. The latest DVSDK 4.00 Beta for OMAP3530 supports a MMC boot option that you can use.

  • Thanks Sid, It is DVSDK release 3.00.02.44.

Actually I have a SD card with Android 2.1 in it. I can successfully boot into Android using it before. But now the LCD touch screen is display nothing and the MMC LED (D1) is not on.

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

Can you check if you are powering on the board by moving power switch to the outer side of the board or the inner side. When looking at the board, if the switch is on bottom left, then you need to switch it on only by moving the switch to left. Moving the switch the other way to power on the board may not be able to boot the board. That's the only thing I can think of right now, but there could some other issue with the board as well.

  •  Thanks Sid

I also found that i made a silly mistake on the power switch just an hour ago, the problem is solved now. Thanks very much!
