AM5718: H.264 image quality

I am evaluating the AM5718 for use in a video processing application. The documentation says I can process the video at the required resolution and frame rate that I require, but the TRM doesn’t say much. In particular there is anything about image quality. For example can I trade off the bitrate for quality?

Are there sample video clips that are available where I can evaluate the image quality when using the IVA logic? Ideally there would be samples that used a1920 X 1080 60P video source to produce a 1920 X 1080 bit stream.

Hi Biser,

I am just starting the evaluation so I am relying on the documentation I have found on the TI site. The TRM for the AM5718 has a single paragraph for the IVA-HD section. All it does is references the SDK. It doesn't provide any details.

I haven't yet downloaded the SDK. What I have seen is https://www.ti.com/processors/dsp/libraries/am57x-video-codecs.html where it mentions DSP libraries for H.264 and MPEG4 encoding. I am hoping to take advantage of the encoder.

Yes you can control the bitrate & Quality.

You can generate the sample video clips at your platform using the library in .

The user guide in Docs will provide you more details on bitrate & Qulity. Suggest you to go though it once.

Also attaching the an standalone test application, so that you can use the .cfg file @ test\testvecs\config and generate streams.

rename this test_app to .zip and extract.
