Hi.

I'm using AM572x custom board.

problem:

Arm kernel in PCIe Init process after DSP startup This error appears.

And this kernel error will not always occur.

    Detail :

    This problem occurs after the DSP is started. In the process of initializing the tracking result PCIe, an error log is generated in the Arm side kernel.

    However, this problem has problems with random.

    What ProcSDK release are you using?

    Do you have a PCIe device plugged into the board? what does it do?
    The PCIe shouldn't be involved in unbinding and binding the DSP.
    Could you disable PCIe and do the same practice to unbind and bind?

    I'm using pdk_am57xx_1_0_4

    It is connected to AM 5728 dsp PCIe, and the connected device plays a role of exchanging ADC Data.

    PCIe is not involved in Remote proc 's Bind / Unbind at all.
    Also, even if you delete the PCIe related routine in the DSP, it will work without problems.

    The exact problem is that the ARM Side kernel error occurs in the process of PCIe initialization in the DSP.

    The PCIE can only be initialized by ARM or DSP, but not both. It looks that you used DSP code to do PCIE initialization, then in the Linux you need to disable the code, I knew some customer managed this by deleting the PCIE entry in device tree.

    If you decide to use the Linux to initialize the PCIE, then you can't run it again in DSP.

    The bottom line is only initialize PCIe at one place. If Linux SGX needs to access PCIe, you should initialize PCIe on Linux side. In that case, DSP can still access PCIe if it needs to. Initializing PCie on DSP side, Linux doesn't have info on PCIe.

    I have a few questions.
    There are various problems when deleting PCI driver on Linux.
    Omap remote proc can not be used and PRU core can not be used.
    Also, QT's EGLFS Platform can not be used.

    Q1. When Using PCI Driver in Linux, Can DSP use PCIe Driver (initialized) ?

    Q2. When I remove "PCI Driver" in Linux, Then I can't use "Remote Proc Driver" now.
    I think OMAP-Remote proc Driver reter to PCI.... isn't it?

    When Linux initializes the PCIe, DSP does not need to do it, but it can use it. Linux works on virtual addresses, but DSP can access directly the physical address. Once Linux set up the in/out bound areas, DSP can access them.

    I don't think that is a true statement that remoteproc driver uses PCIe. I can't make any sense out of it.

    It is PCI problem. It is not PCIe.


    Removing (non-PCIe) PCI drivers from Linux will cause a lot of problems.
    (Remote proc / eglfs platform / etc ..)

    My question is, can PCI drivers be used on Linux and PCIe drivers on DSP? .

    The way I see it is that the PCI is the foundamental, and PCIe is an extension to the PCI. Take a look at the drivers directory structure. PCI includes PCIe subdirectory. I don't think PCIe will work by removing PCI driver.

    I thought we suggested that only one application initializes the PCIe which is Linux and DSP can access the PCIe area through direct physical address mapping.
