AM335X: New processor bring-up

Good afternoon,

If I were to buy a chip of the Sitara processor loose, for example an AM335xxx, to build my own PCBs directly, what steps do I have to follow to have an operating system, for example Android, on it?

In short, would I need a programmer to load the initial bootloader, or is it already included? What types of connections / tools would you need? Are the factory chips ready to be put into programming mode?


Thanks for your attention. There really is a lot of information, but it does not end up being clear on this issue.

welcome to Processors world... we appreciate you are considering our Sitara devices.
I would start with online trainings we have...here is a good starting point: training.ti.com/.../products
our product folders also have a lot of good material like: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../AM335x_Hardware_Design_Guide

Very good indication to start as is my case.

One question: Is there any document where I can know the date on which the Sitara processors are going to be discontinued?
I do not want to start working on a component that has a short life time in production.
