TDA2SX: TDA2x to support new DDR

Hi all,

I'm now using a TDA2x EVB(Vayu) whose DDR is MT41K512M16HA-125, while my own production board uses W632GU6KB12K instead.

So does anyone know what modification should I do to fit the new DDR W632GU6KB12K in my software ?

My VisionSDK version is 2.9.1.0. And I use BIOS only on all cores.

Are you looking for what EMIF register settings should be used, or where these modifications should be made in the source?

Hi Kevin,

During EMIF_Config() in SBL, I got a hardware leveling timeout. I found that the bit 4 and bit 6 of SDRAM Status Register is 1. so it's Read DQS Gate Training Timeout and Write Leveling Timeout.

I found the a related link, but I cannot access the doc link in it.

Does TI have some new guides for users to debug ? What can I do to deal with the Timeout exception?

Hi,

The referenced E2E thread appears to be related to a Keystone 1 device, which does not necessarily correspond to a TDA2x device. Please use the link I previously provided for checking / reviewing EMIF register settings.

There is currently no specific guide for debug although we can try to assist through the E2E thread for the time being.

As a first step for debug, it would be beneficial to ensure that register settings match those recommended by the XLS from the link provided. Also, please ensure the software being used for the DDR initialization sequence is up-to-date with the latest software releases.

If you have a JTAG connection on the board and CCS, please check the DDR memory region through the memory browser window. Refresh the contents to see if you read back different data (data will turn red when changing). If errors are observed, please check to see if common to a specific byte. Any other observations that can be provided are also beneficial.

Check voltage levels and (if probe points are available) probe critical signals such as the DDR clock and data strobes.

Also, please let us know if this has been tried on additional boards and whether or not those boards have shown similar issues or not.

Hi Kevin,

Actually I'm debugging on my own TDA2xx production board. And I encountered a hardware leveling timeout problem.

I followed the SPRAC36A_EMIF_RegisterConfig, but some warnings occur. The parameters were described in the pages from 133 to 138 inside the datasheet. Could you help to check the table to find why?

I use the W632GU6KB12K(DDR3L-1600) who is working at 532 MHz. DDR parameters.zip

Hi,

No extra plugin is required. This .xls sheet was originally a part of a larger install package which the "save" feature depended on. Please disregard the "save" feature of the .xls.

Hi customer:

winbond did not provide their speed bin about 1066 configure.

Have use Micron 128M*16 memory speed bin code try to fill the excel documents.

Please try attached parameter. If those configure did not work, you need contact Winbond provided their special 1066 speed bin configure or maybe you can forward those excel document to winbond and let winbond expert fill the table.
