Connection devices and SDRAM on EVM EMIFA

Hi,

We are developping a specific test board to be connected on EMIFA connector on EVM (Logicpd) board.

In fact there is not RAS/CAS signals for SDRAM connection neither EMA_SDCKE nor EMA_WE_DQMx signals.

Is it possible to use this interface either with SDRAM, and Asynchronous device (as explained in data sheet and AN http://focus.ti.com/lit/ug/sprufl6e/sprufl6e.pdf )?

Futhermore, after analysing SOM-M1 module schematics, theses signals are used to control power system of module (Sheet #2).

Is there any configuration pin to use Asynchronous mode (degraded one) without disturbing this power device and processor?

Best regards.

  • Gilles,

As you have noticed, it will not be practical to hook up an SDRAM to EMIFA through the expansion connector, but you should be able to interface with an asynch memory without problem.  You can look at the UI Board schematic, which has a NAND and NOR available to EMIFA.

You can use the PINMUX settings to determine which module (GPIO or EMIFA) controls the mux'd pin outputs.
