OMAP-L137: Unique Identifier

Part Number: OMAP-L137

Hello

In many of our existing products we are using the OMAP-L137 CZKBA3 device.

We are currently looking for way to get a unique identification of our products and though it might be possible to read a device unique register value from the OMAP device (e.g. the ARM9 serial number)

I hope you are able to give us some advice or ideas on that issue.

Best Regards

Bob Bacon

  • Hi Bob

Can you clarify this further? Is the customer looking for

1)Every OMAPL137 device to have a unique id

    2) Unique ID for OMAPL137 based products where this id can be same across all OMAPL137 devices they have, so that they can distinguish the product from other processor based products?

    3) Since you put the full part # , is the request to distinguish latest rev for OMAPL137 vs older revs?

For 1 i do not have a good suggestion

For 2 , can they not use JTAG ID (documented in the datasheet) or any other peripheral REV ID field?

For 3, SYSCFG CHIPREVID register allows distinguishing between latest silicon rev vs older (in the TRM)

    Hope this helps

    Regards

  • We are looking for a True Unique ID across all devices.
  • Ok, in that case , can they leverage JTAG ID field and content?
Not sure if it is unique across all TI devices, but I pulled 4 different processor datasheets and looked different, this is potentially still better than picking a peripheral rev ID (as several processor can have the same rev of the IP)
  • Just to be clear about this, we are talking about Option 1). Every OMAPL137 device to have a unique id
  • Ok, sorry it was confusing as first question was can they use ARM REV ID or something - which would not be unique for every device.

If every device needs to have a unique id in that case , please see the following thread

    e2e.ti.com/.../284370

Same disposition for OMAPL137 also. We do not document/endorse/support use of die id registers for this purpose, but customers can do so at their own risk.
