AM4379: EtherCAT Master on PRU

Hi Sir

1. we would like to implement ethercat master in PRU without using ARM linux to send/receive packet.

Does it have any risk or limitation ?

2. Is it more efficient if we use PRU Ethernet instead of using standard Ethernet (EMAC) ?

Hi,

EtherCAT (either Master or Slave) cannot be implemented on the PRU only. Higher layers of the stack can only be processed on the ARM.

I am confused about your reply.

For Ethercat slave, PRU should be able to implement this feature and handle all without ARM. Is It right ?

I have no idea why ARM need to process higher layers of the stack ?
