AM4378: USB storage devices not accessible on GP EVM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSEVM437X, AM4376

Hi,

I want to read and write the data on pendrive by mounting it on my TI Sitara Evaluation Board with TI AM4376 processor- TMDSEVM437X (www.ti.com/.../tmdsevm437x)

I tried with the commands fdisk -l and other command as in this reference link (linuxconfig.org/howto-mount-usb-drive-in-linux   )

But I am not able to see/ access any files in the directory created to mount the USB device. Can anybody help with this..?

Thanks in advance.

Dhara.

  • Hi,

To which USB port do you connect the pendrive?
What software are you running on the EVM? Which version?
What is the pendrive model and manufacturer?
  • Hi,

I am connecting pendrive to USB#1 port on the EVM (TMDSEVM437X).

I have installed Linux SDK available from this link (software-dl.ti.com/.../index_FDS.html)
    "ti-processor-sdk-linux-am437x-evm-04.00.00.04-Linux-x86-Install.bin"

I tried with 2 pendirve, but how would this matter in the detection of pendrive on EVM..??
    SMI Corporation, 8GB pendrive (FAT32)
    SWIVEL, 4GB pendirve (FAT32)

    Thanks,
    Dhara

  • Please try on USB1 (USB Type A connector, J13). USB0 is configured as OTG port by default. USB1 is Host port.
  • Hi,

Sorry, my mistake with the previous post, I am already trying on USB port#1 only. J13- Tpye A USB port.

When I create a mount point in EVM and mount USB on that directory, its empty. I do have some files in the pendrive to verify if I able to read those file after mounting it on the directory created.

But is there any significance of knowing the manufacturer of pendrive, if its not getting detected on EVM..?

    Thanks,
    Dhara
  • Hi,
Any reason or suggestions why pendrive is not getting mount..??

    Thanks,
    Dhara
  • Dhara,

    Please provide the following information.

    1. the full dmesg log after the pendrive is attached;
    2. the commands and logs showing how you mount and checked the pendrive.
  • Hi,

Find the attached log file when I try to mount the pen-drive on EVM.

  • The log shows the pendrive VID:PID is 090c:1000, this device doesn't fully comply to the MSC protocol. Can you please try different pendrives?
