White Noise Generator and AGC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM3070, TLV320AIC3268

I'd appreciate some recommendation on where to look in the design of the following.

I have a design that requires a White Noise Generator for sound masking within a conference room. I would like to use a microphone input as a reference to vary the amplitude of the white noise depending upon the room sound level. Sounds pretty simple and I think I can do this easily if I have the white noise generator. I think the design would be even better if we could offer a pink noise generator as an option.

Right now, we use the TLV320AIC3268 for a number of other things so we are familiar with this class of device. We also use the PCM3070 series on some smaller projects.

Any suggestions or recommendations?

Thank you.

Phil

  • Hi, Phil,

The miniDSP in the TLV320AIC3268 or PCM3070 offers different blocks that can be configured by user, there is a pseudo-random noise generator block available, but unfortunately a white noise generator is not available. You might need an external generator for your application.
