AM3357: UART read logic level

Hello,

in our application we intend to use a Sitara AM3357 UART for communication via a bus system. To detect a bus state situation we want to read the logic level of the RxD input. Using the PinMux Utility it is not allowed to configure the RxD pad concurrently as GPIO because GPIO and UART connection are different modes. Do you have any suggestion how to get the level without reconfiguring the UART function at runtime ?

Hi,

The simplest way would be to connect the RX signal to a GPIO in parallel.

This would be the last solution. If there is no way to solve it by software we must add a pcb track to our board.

From what I checked in the UART register information (AM335x TRM Rev. P, section 19.5), I didn't find any functionality that could be used for monitoring the RX line.

thank you for your answer. Then we will add a pcb track to a free GPIO on the next revision of our board.
