Starterware/TMDSLCDK6748: Help with Audio Processing

Part Number: TMDSLCDK6748
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP-L138

Tool/software: Starterware

Hello, first of all I will give a bit of context to my question.

I am a student assistant for a DSP course focused in Audio processing. Until this year the lab of the course used the C6713 DSK, but my professor bought the C6748 LCDK to improve the lab experience, we had to use CCS3.3 to program and all that.

I have been tasked with adapting all the lab codes and experiences to be used with the C6748 but difficulties have appeared. I got overwhelmed with the Starterware, specifically the McASP example. When we worked with the C6713, initializing the AIC and obtaining the audio channel samples was really easy and a matter of using some functions, so I didn't delve too deep in the code. Now with the C6748 things doesn't look as easy.

I've read a bit of the book "Digital Signal Processing and Applications with the OMAP-L138 eXperimenter" and saw the codes included for the initialization of the AIC and the functions used to extract audio from the input and they are much more familiar to me than what I could understand of the Starterwas and I wanted to know if it's possible to use the LCDK version of the L138_support files with the C6748 LCDK. I saw this post suggesting it was possible e2e.ti.com/.../410468

I would also like if someone could point me to a good resource to get started with audio processing with the C6748, I can't really find good tutorials on the matter and I think I'm a bit confused in how to approch this.

Regards,

Javier

  • Hi Javier,

I suggest you to start with the linked below tutorial:

    Tsvetolin Shulev
  • Javier,

You or your professor can go to TI.com, click the Support & training tab, then find the TI university program link. From there you will find links for materials and labs and many resources for university courses. You or perhaps the professor may need to register with the university program.

It is good that you have moved to the C6748.

Another resource, in addition to what I have mentioned and the link Tsvetolin included, is the C6000 Embedded Workshop. You can search for it on TI.com. Its material may be a bit outdated, but may give some good ideas for getting past the problems you are having today.
