DM388: TMXEVM388 Quick Start Guide

Part Number: DM388
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSCSK388,

Hi,

We have got a new TMDXEVM388 evaluation module. Do you have different IPNC RDK for TMDXEVM388 and TMDSCSK388? Reason we ask this questions is:

IPNC Reference Design Kit Installation Guide  for  TMDXEVM388 says " The release contains the following components: IPNC_RDK_V3.8.1.tar.gz IPNC_RDK_V3.8.1.tar.gz"

We read the same for TMDSCSK388 for IPNC reference design kit installation guide as well but when we downloaded the RDK we saw version is v3.9.1.

Please let us know which RDK should we use for TMDXEVM388 evaluation module and how can we build uBoot, Uimage etc for this board?

Appreciate a quick response on this.

  • Hi Kailash,

EVM and CSK are two reference design by TI, CSK being recent reference design.

    RDK 3.8.1

For EVM component video input source capture support been added

    RDK 3.9.1

Is validated only on CSK reference design it being latest it has kernel 4.4.12 and U-boot 2016

For EVM 3.8.1 is only preferred, please refer to install guide part of the release for building and using EVM.

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Thanks for the quick response. Is it possible to use RDK 3.9.1 on EVM? Even though it is not validated still I want to check if we it is possible to use latest kernel. Please let us know how we can use it for DM388 EVM?
  • Hi Kailash,

3.8.1 is independently developed on top of 3.8.0 and 3.9.1 on top of 3.8.0.However application and MCFW side porting seems to be straight forward since proper macros used for Component video capture. Even you can compare both packages to see the difference.

To just bootup your board, DDR timings parameter tuning might be required. Rest of the porting depends on peripherals in EVM. I dont have EVM schematics right now, after looking into that I can comment on this better.
