Hi,

SDK: ti-processor-sdk-linux-automotive-dra7xx-evm-03_02_00_03

i want to write test app on the M4, communicate both M4 and A15,

i don't know where to start, i find the ipu have a M4 processor,

but i want to write test program about CAN module on the M4 and

communicate to A15.

I'm confused now, help me please.

Hi Cesar,

To write a test app on the M4 and to have a communication between IPU (M4) and MPU (A15), I would suggest you to look into the Inter-Processor Communication (IPC) Users Guide. Please look especially on the IPC Users Guide/Examples (ex02_messageq). That will help you to get started in utilizing TI IPC for communication between M4 and A15.

Since I am not to familiar with Controller Area Network (CAN), I searched on ti.com about it and found several links that can probably help you.

eg.

DRA7xx GLSDK DCAN Driver - look also at the references section.

Processor SDK RTOS CSL - using the Processor SDK RTOS based Chip Support Library (CSL) or starterware to use DCAN.

I think on ti-processor-sdk-linux-automotive-dra7xx-evm-03_02_00_03, the csl package is located at: ./linux-devkit/sysroots/armv7ahf-neon-linux-gnueabi/usr/share/ti/ti-pdk-tree/packages/ti/csl

Other suggestion, you might want to do some search on the listed TI e2e forums found here as well.

i don't know start up the M4 system and run test app on the board;
my problem are:
1. how to operate M4 core;
2. what is the ipumm that the sdk offer?

Hi Cesar,

The M4 core is operated through a firmware which has the code to configure and execute on M4 core.

How to load the firmware on M4 core? From the link that I have provided earlier "the Processor SDK RTOS", you can click on "How To Guides" which provides information about it.

On DRA7x, we have two dual Cortex®-M4 Image Processing Unit (IPU) subsystem. ipumm is a multimedia firmware that operates on Cortex®-M4 IPU2 which utilizes the Image and Video Accelerator (IVA) subsystem for hardware accelerator. So, in simple answer, the ipumm on the sdk provides decoding and encoding of video through hardware codec instead of software codec.

For the git error that you are getting "fatal: read error:The connection is reset by the other party", it is either a problem with your internet connection or your git configuration. Are you able to git clone other site?

I want to test ipu1:

i find test_omx_ipu1_vayu.xem4

i copy test_omx_ipu1_vayu.xem4 to /lib/firmware# ipc/ti_platforms_evmDRA7XX_ipu1

i Perform the follow:

but i don't know its uses,logic,

how to use this test and how to debug, print debug info.

Hi Cesar,

For the IPC test firmware, you might want to see: Running_the_Bundled_IPC_Examples or Running IPC Examples.

In your case to see the examples of communication between A15 and M4, you might want to use the "server_ipu1.xem4" firmware of the ex02_messageq.
