Which processor?

I'm investigating which Davinci processor I would need to do the following:

I need to decode several videostreams (from the internet), each containing compressed video for a smal area (like 100x60 pixels).

These video streams have then to be mapped onto different areas on an output screen.

Output resulotion about 1024x768.

I would like to run Linux for the internet access and overall control.

I already did a lot of reading, but it is still difficult for me to make a good choice.

Any advise is very welcome!

More than one of the devices could do something like this, it more depends on what sort of codec your video streams will be and what frame rates they will operate so you hit the right performance point. If you need flexibility than a DM6446 may be suitable, or if you can work with just h.264 streams than a DM365 may be more effective.

Well, if you are streaming data via internet, then DM6467 has 10/100/1000 EMAC, whereas most other DaVinci processors have a 10/100 EMAC.

The other question is what compression standard you are using, some processors are more limited but better priced per performance (DM365), others are more flexible but at a higher cost (DM6446).
