Dear All,

After going back and forward on TI's website...

Can anyone tell me if there any costs for me uses TI's TI-RTOS? I like to use it in combination with profinet RT/IRT communication, what is your experience?

And I like to use the profinet SW that comes with the SDK. Everything there is free to use but before I go to the market the manual says that I have to contact profinet stack supplier to buy this SW stack. Can I do my qualifications with the free version here?

I contacted Molex for a price, but I did not get any response, can somebody give me a price indication for this SW stack?

The Profinet stack is licensed by Molex . There is some information on our Sitara FAQ for Profinet. http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/FAQ_Sitara_Industrial . The Industrial SDK Profinet example has a limited configurability that provides only a limited implementation of the third party stack. To use the full feature set, it is necessary to purchase the stack and SNMP stack from our third party stack partners. We do our qualification tests with the full stack implementation. We have not evaluated the demonstration version for qualification testing.

Hi David,

I came across the AMIC110 SoC. For my low volume product it seems the better option. However I can not find out if I need any additional software for profinet here.

It seems than the profinet protocol is already embedded into the chip? If so which IRT profinet version is in there?

Profinet RT and IRT is implemented in ARM software and PRU firmware.

The package is the PRU-ICSS-Industrial Profinet which has a link on page http://www.ti.com/tool/PRU-ICSS-INDUSTRIAL-SW

As noted in the Profinet User Guide http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/PRU_ICSS_Profinet ,

this packages does not use the latest release of the Processor SDK .

This release uses the PROCESSOR-SDK-RTOS 03_03_00 which is available at http://www.ti.com/tool/ti-rtos-proc

HOWEVER the link shown is to PROCESSOR-SDK-RTOS-AM335X 04_01_00_06 .

We will correct that shortly.

One additional note each release of Processor SDK requires a specific version of CCS. A link to that version of CCS is included just below the link to install the Processor SDK.

Hi David,

Sorry my question was unclear.

I meant: if I use the AMIC110 in my final product do I still have to buy the molex profinet stack and the Interniche SNMP stack?

I am still in the architectural phase of my project so unfortunately I can not go to deep into details for now.
