Linux/CARDVRRDK: Need latest kernel for DM385 car black box (nsketch)

Hello,

I am currently using carbb-rdk-dm385_v1.5.7, cbb_psp_04_04_00_02 which is kernel version 2.6.37 and need to integrate the wl18xx wifi module. TI recommended I upgrade to the latest kernel to get support.

Is there a newer version, and if so, where can I get it.

I have downloaded newer kernel versions but they are not specific to the CARBB. I need the latest wl18xx drivers and source integrated.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Mark,

I think we have only DM38x IPNC SDK with Linux 4.4 LTS kernel. Regarding CBB RDK, 2.6.37 is latest.

How difficult is it to modify the CBB RDK kernel 2.6.37 to use the kernel in the DM38x IPNC SDK (Linux 4.4 LTS kernel)?

Hi Mark,

Migrating from 2.6.37 kernel to 4.4 kernel is possible, but would not be easy. I can not say how difficult, this would depend on your experience.

IPNC SDK 3.8.x is based on 2.6.37 kernel, while IPNC SDK 3.9.x is based on 4.4 kernel, you can use that as a reference. Note that migrating from 2.6.37 kernel to 4.4 kernel was done by a whole team, and it take several months.

Hi Pavel,
Thanks for your response. I have been going through the IPNC SDK 3.9.x and it appears it may take a significant effort to upgrade.
Do you know if there are any plans to release an updated RDK for the car black box?
