TDA2x: Vision SDK Linux - Reset Issue

We are developing on TDA2x EVM , VisionSDK 3 Linux.

We are facing issue in reboot command from linux and reset command from U-boot.

The board hangs after this stage and never recovers. How can we properly reset EVM from software.

Hi Naveen,
What is the revision of your EVM? It was a known bug in earlier revisions.
You can search this forum for threads and download Errata document and look for "warm reset is not reliable..." or similar.
If I remember well, a reset can be issued with an I2C command to PMIC.
Recent boards have a hardware workaround implemented, so no commands needed.

Hi Stan,

Thanks for the update, We are using Revision H of TDA2x. EVM.

We are using this EVM as reference for our custom board design.

Is this hardware workaround implemented in this revision of board

Hi Naveen,

Firstly, please take into account that the EVM is not a reference design and should not be copied blindly. I'm saying that because of so many issues in the past coming from the directly re-used parts from the EVM.

Secondly, please be aware that I'm not directly involved with EVMs or schematic designs but what I know is:

- Rev E is with SoC revision 1.0. It is highly recommended to use SR2.0 and EVM rev H.

- for the reset issue, use one the latest PMICs. They can be instructed assert a POR signal upon warm reset, thus eliminating the warm-reset issue. See the PMIC BOOT pin setting for your PMIC so it gets instructed to assert POR on warm resets. See your PMIC datasheet.
