Linux/AM3352: NAND boot issue

Hi All,

We have designed a customized board with AM3352 processor with 1 GB DDR3 and 512 MB NAND Flash.

We are Using uboot version - U-Boot 2017.07. We have just executed the U-boot through JTAG, which works fine. READ/ WRITE in DDR3 works Fine.

When We have flashed the MLO in the 0x0 offset and u-boot.img in 0x80000 offset of NAND Flash. When we power off and power on only the MLO Debug print is getting printfed.

Hi,

How is SYSBOOT[9] configured on your board? What is your NAND geometry?

2. I cant understand what NAND geometry means ?

1. Try with SYSBOOT[9] = 0.
2. Page size, OOB size, block size, etc.

2. 1 page = (2K + 64 bytes)
1 block = (2K + 64) bytes x 64 pages
OOB means ?

OOB is the spare area. OK, BCH8 is the correct ECC for this geometry. Try setting SYSBOOT[9] = 0.

Hi Biser,

We have changed the SYSBOOT[9] = 0 and tested. Still we are facing the same issue. We found that the content from the Flash(0x80000) is not transfered to DDR(0x80800000) location.

Any help or suggestion. We are in an urgent situation as there was a bulk production and hardware team is waiting for the clearance.

Hello Avinash,

0x80000 offset is for device trees and falcon mode. Please, copy the u-boot.img at offset 0x000c0000.

I have changed the offset to 0x000c0000. Then we are facing this issue ,

Your custom board doesn't have an EEPROM and you are not using the TI's U-Boot.

Hi Shakir,

Our customised board doesn't has EEPROM, We are using Sdk 4.0.0 source.

We need to make any changes for the EEPROM section? if yes, can you provide the steps to be done in U-BOOT source.

The files you need to modify in U-Boot are:
board/ti/am335x/board.c
board/ti/am335x/board.h
board/ti/common/board_detect.c
board/ti/common/board_detect.h

Hard code the EEPROM properties.

Hi Shakir,

As I was new to U-BOOT, Can you provide some ideas where exactly we need to hard-core the EEPROM parameters. Can you please provide any sample file for reference.

Hi Kemal R. Shakir,

we are suing am335x-evm-linux-rt-sdk-src-04.00.00.04.tar.xz. We have compiled the source and ported the MLO. We have enabled the DEBUG. But no print is found in Serial console.

Whether we need to make any changes.
