TI H.264 codec with access to motion vectors

I am a bit confused about which version of TI h.264 codec provides API for accessing motion vectors. There seem to be two different versions v1.14 and v2.0. The application note for DM644 mentions a version of the codec where you can access motion vectors. Other application notes are silent. Anybody has th experience of using this?

    Did you mean DM6446 by any chance?  Regardless, the best place to look for this type of information are the codec-data sheet (tells you features supported and performance numbers) and the user guide (tells you how to use the codec).  THere is a third codec doc, the release notes, which describes software compatibility with other components.  We normally include all three of these docs for each corresponding codec included in our software releases.  If you can not find these, let us know which platform and software release you are using and we can point you in the right direction.

    You are right, the document that refers to the feature is about encoder v1.4 on DM6446.

    Currently I am doing preliminary evaluation to determine best platform for my application - which requires h.264 compression and access to motion vectors. I am considering DM647 and DM648. Can you direct me to the datasheet for latest version of h.264 encoder for DM648. The webpage for the encoder (http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/tmdh264e.html) says I'll get the datasheet with the codec download but I am not ready to download the codec yet - I don't have the SW and have to clarify the licensing issues as well. For now, I just want to know the capabilities offered.

    BTW I just noticed that the h.264 encoder is supported for DM648 but not for DM647. Given that the processing engines C64x+ core and the VICP are the same [though L2 DM648 has more on chip SRAM], is it possible to ru nthe same object code on DM647?

    I cannot post the data-sheet due to legal issues.  I have given feedback to our management on this to see if we can try to get these data-sheets out on the external web for all our customers to access similar to the hardware data-sheets, but this will not happen soon.  Therefore, in the mean time, I would recommend you download the codec to get the data-sheet.
