66AK2H06: Problem with program loading using TMDSEMU560V2STM-U

Part Number: 66AK2H06
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSEMU560V2STM-U, TMDSEMU560V2STM-UE

Hi,

My customer has the problem that an error occurs when program loading to DDR3 connected to 66AK2H06 using TMDSEMU560V2STM-U(Blakhawk).
This problem is occurring on the customer's target board, they created two boards.

One board of them can load without trouble if TCLK is set to 10.368Mhz, but the problem occur if TCLK is 3 Mhz.
The other board has the opposite result, there is no problem if TCLK is 3 Mhz, but setting to 10.368Mhz causes problems.

I will show the error message when that problem occurred below :

Target device : 66AK2H06
CCS version : v7.3.0
Emulation package : 5.1.450.0

====
SEVERE: C66xx_0: Trouble Reading Memory Block at 0x80057f50 on Page 0 of Length 0x4: (Error -1060 @ 0x64) Device is not responding to the request.
Reset the device, and retry the operation. If error persists, confirm configuration, power-cycle the board, and/or try more reliable JTAG settings (e.g. lower TCLK). (Emulation package 5.1.450.0)
=====

In the case of using TMDSEMU560V2STM-UE(Spectrum Digital), the problem NOT occurred regardless of the setting of TCLK.
So, I think that it is a problem of TMDSEMU560V2STM-U(Blakhawk) itself or its driver software.
Does anyone know about similar problems or solutions?

Best regards,
H.U

  • Hi,

How are you initializing the board? Are you using GEL file, or TI RTOS, or some bare-metal initialization?

    Best Regards,
    Yordan
  • Hi,

Does the failure emulator work for accessing L2/MSMC? Or it is only for DDR? How the DDR was initialized on the customer board, any instability issue? If the DDR runs at a lower speed, will it help?

Do they have any TI Keystone I/II EVM to verify the proper access to DDR data?

    Regards, Eric
  • Hi Yordan, Eric,

    Thank you for your reply.
They are initializing the board using the GEL file, I will attach the GEL file.
    4064.xtcievmk2x.gel

The same problem occurs when loading to internal RAM. We think that DDR is operating stably.
I will check with customers about the impact of DDR speed, but I do not think it will have much impact.
Because it has been confirmed that no problem has occurred at all by using TMDSEMU560V2STM-UE(Spectrum Digital).

    Best regards,
    H.U

  • Hi Eric,

I will present additional information from customer.
They changed the DDR3 speed of their board from 1600 Mhz to 1333 Mhz, but the problem occurred.

They confirmed that EVM does not cause problems even if TMDSEMU560V2STM-U(Blakhawk) is used.
If there are any other particular points, please point them out.

    Best regards,
    H.U

  • Hi Yordan, Eric,

I am still expecting your response regarding this issue. I need your help.
