AM4376: Supported QSPI memories

basic question

1. What are the factors whcih decides the size QSPI flash ?
2. Any calculation sheet whcih i can refer for QSPI size estimation ? becasue right now i dont have any calculation sheet for estimation the size

We have developed our code based on Am437x starter kit.

but we dont have NAND memory on our custom board.

at present booting from SD card and in future wanted to boot from QSPI flash.

our code size optimised upto 150MByte

but not sure about the future specification and its size

so pls. suggest how to estimate the qspi flash size?

i can adjust the values of application size in the sheet and find out best suitable size

We don't have any references of the sort you request. As I posted, this decision is entirely up to the board designer to make.

What does it means?

we wanted to use device more than 256Mbit but its 32 bit address protocoal

Does it fit to requirment mentioned in section -5.2.6.7.1 of the AM437x TRM Rev. G.

The original 24 bit address protocol of serial Flash can only access density size below 128Mb. For the memory
device of 256Mb and above, the 32bit address is requested for access higher memory size

some devices need 32 bit addressing so will it work?

1. MX66L2G45G-- 32 bit addressing for access 256mb density
2. MX66L1G45G- 2 4 bit adressing for access 128mb density

2. IS43TR16256AL-125KBL- 4Gb DDR3 SDRAM ( 512MByte)
3. PMIC- TPS65218
4. MX25L12835F- 128Mb (16MByte) QSPI flash

custom_tisdk_rootfs-image-arm437x-evm-_v2_1.tar.xz file sise is 160MByte
iot_app.tar-xz - file size is 1Mbyte

Bootable SD card contains following file sizes

1. device-tree-zimage Am437- 55KByte
2. IOTGW-App- 165KByte
3. MLO- 68Kbyte
4. U-boot- 579 Kbyte
5. uEnv- 749Kbyte
6. Z imgae - 3.5Mbyte
7. zimage- 4.4.4.1- gfd...... 3.5MByte

Total - size 8MByte only

from above data, Do we need extra flash memroy to boot the custom board?

I repeat my question- Would it possible to boot the custom board from QSPI flash (16Mbyte size)?
Do we need extra flash memory device to boot the custom board?
DDR3 RAM helps in booting procudure?
To understand linux booting what are the files generated, how it generate, where it saves while booting and how to save those files in QSPI flash or booting procedure . - Pls. share the best guide document.
