Linux/TMDXIDK5718: No HDMI output

HI

I am using the latest TI SDK v4.01.00.06 RT Linux ti-processor-sdk-linux-rt-am57xx-evm-04.01.00.06.

I am trying to use HDMI output, but HDMI display only says "Please Wait" on the console.

On bootup, I can see that matrix browser didnt start, and is not starting :

root@am57xx-evm:~# matrix_browser http://localhost:80/
Failed to create display (No such file or directory)

Note that it works when I connect the LCD display( I am using the part TMDXIDK57X-LCD), I can see matrix browser running fine.

Please let me know if I am missing anything. I can provide any further logs if you wish.

Hi,

You need to connect an USB pointing device before launching the browser.

Hi Biser,

Thanks a lot, connecting a mouse makes the matrix browser work, however we have a new issue - The output doesnt cover the whole screen of the HDMI monitor and also, there are horizontal lines on the screen .
The monitor part number is LG 29UM58 ( Refresh Rate 75Hz
Aspect Ratio 21:9
Resolution 2560 x 1080).

Is there any way we can set this inside the Linux SDK, or am I missing anything else ?

Hi Ashutosh,

Could you check in your Linux kernel menuconfig whether HDMI ALSA driver is properly configured as it is described at:
processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Sitara_Linux_Audio_BeagleBoneBlack_HDMI

Ashutosh,

Is it possible to change the HDMI monitor refresh rating settings because the necessary pixel clock for 2560x1080@75 Hz (24bpp) mode is 207 MHz but AM5718 supports pixel clock up to 165 MHz (tc(clk) 6.06 ns).
Therefore I suggest you to change HDMI monitor refresh rating to value up to 60 Hz and add a new "output" section in /etc/weston.ini as shown below:
[output]
name=HDMI-A-1
mode=2560x1080
Also set in u-boot optargs 'video=HDMI-A-1:2560x1080' for example:
=> setenv optargs video=HDMI-A-1:2560x1080
=> saveenv
