66AK2L06: DDR3 routing

Part Number: 66AK2L06

Is it possible to neck down the trace width of address, control and data lines of DDR3, since there are some space constraints on our PCB? The neck length is 25 - 80 mils.

This is expected only for some of the address lines and data lines.

Thanks,

Sreejaya

  • Hi Sreejaya,

Necking down the trace will cause a discontinuity in the impedance and degrade the signal quality. The routing guideline provided by TI have been used successfully by customers to generate an error free memory interface. If you don't follow the guidelines we can't predict how your system will operate. Necking down should not be necessary to escape the DDR signals from the K2L.
