DM648 EVM from Lyrtech - EVMPost utility code

Hi

Anyone know where I can get the DM648 "EVMPost" source code? Its a utility that comes with the Lyrtech CD. I contacted their support and their response (below) was that the didn't have it (seems kinda strange dont it[^o)]).

quote from email: "I just informed myself" (I wish I could do that more often) [8-|]

Cheers

Hi,

I just informed myself and we don't have the source code of these applications. Your best chance will be with TI. Try to contact them and see if it's possible to get these files.

  • Eddie,

I'm not sure who (if anyone) inside TI would own the source to EVMPost but I am looking around. I will let you know if I find anything.

  • Hi Tim

Thanks for looking (I suspect Lyrtech has it since the .out is on their CD)

    Cheers

  • Hi Eddie,

maybe a bit offtopic for your question... but - I had a similar story several times (Lyrtech support telling me to ask TI and vice versa...). Did you consider using the SheldonInstruments driverkit for the DM648 (SI-DDK)? http://www.sheldoninst.com/sw/dm642dspdriver/index.html

I think that its a good alternative to the Lyrtech drivers. They ship it with the complete sourcecode and the same API for Linux and Windows. I switched from Lyrtech to the Sheldon SI-DDK and I think it was a good choice... Maybe you have to add some effort to adapt it to your system but at least you can ship around the cliffs by debugging on your own.

    bye,

  • Hi Thomas

Thanks for your thoughts. I've started using the TI PSP drivers. Hopefully they will give me less grief than Lyrtech.

You have tried Sheldon? Any problems?

    Cheers

  • Hi Eddie,

I thought that the TI PSP drivers are only for the DSP side?

And sorry - I think I mixed up 2 companies... Lyrtech sells the EVM648 hardware and it seems that they ship it along with the SheldonInstruments (Windows) driver for DM648. Its in the subdirectory pci when you install the Lyrtech-CD that comes along with the EVM648 (without sourcecode!). I was using an EVM642 board before and this comes with a Windows driver from Jungo. I think that the board itself was made by SpectrumDigital, not by Lyrtech. I had several problems with the drivers there and then discovered the SI-DDK by SheldonInstruments (I also have troubes with that - but well - I have chosen this job ;-).

At Sheldon you can buy the sourcecode and also the Linux version of the drivers that are included in the EVM as binaries...

    bye,

    Thomas
