DDR power

In DM355 eval board, DDR memory and DDR controller have separate power planes. However, in the app note for implementing DDR layout mentions 1.8V power plane that should cover both controller and the memory chip. Does that mean that 1.8V power for 355 DDR and DDR memory chip can be shared (i.e. one EMI filter provides power for memory and DDR controller)?

Thank you.

  • Yes the 1.8V power is shared between 355 DDR and DDR memory.

The EVM used separate power planes to give the ability to measure the power of the DM355 by itself. The layout is not intended to be a reference design, and the datasheet rules always take precedence.
