AM5728: EMIF tool question

Hi,

We have used output of "SPRAC36A_EMIF_RegisterConfig.xlsm" for DDR3L configuration on our custom AM5728 board design. Once we add all 36 registers (ext_phy_ctrl_const_regs) DDR3L doesn't work but when we delete register 36 and set 26-35 registers to zero, DDR3L works. We realized that, TI also made these changes in (u-boot source dir)/board/ti/am57xx/board.c for AM572x GP EVM Rev. A3.

Why do we have to delete register 36 and set 26-35 registers to zero?

Apologize for the delay in the response. Can you share your spread sheet? As far as I can see, we don't output EXT_PHY_CTRL registers 26-36 in the tool. Therefore, I'm not able to provide feedback without looking at your configuration sheet.

Hi Siva,

We've used ISSI DDR3L Memory (IS43TR16256AL-125KBLI) and attached the spreadsheet we've filled up.

Thanks for providing the tool output. The values of registers in EXT_PHY_CTRL26-35 are used to set initialization values for READ and WRITE leveling. We recommend not to set the init values and leave at default. It appears that the values are incorrectly set due to improper board routing information in Step 2. Please do delete the EXT_PHY_CTRL26-35 registers as you have done

Could you help confirm you had to also delete EXT_PHY_CTRL_36? I believe this value is computed correctly and should be same as reset state. I'm curious to see what happens if you leave the definition for EXT_PHY_CTRL_36 in u-boot (with the value you obtained from the tool).

Update: EXT_PHY_CTRL_36 is not programmed in the TI SDK, but is left at default. If you program the value from the tool (same as reset value), there should not be any issue.

Please highlight if you still have unresolved issue and/or have any open questions.

Hi Siva,

Sorry for the late answer. We've set 26-35 registers to zero, also keep register 36 as the excel output (SPRAC36A_EMIF_RegisterConfig.xlsm) and DDR3L works on Uboot.
