Hi,

We are developing two application, one runs on ARM and another on M4. We need help on how to create the pipeline between these two application and how to build.

We are using linux processor SDK 04.01.00.06 on ARM.
Using RTOS example application on M4.

We are developing command line based v4l2 application on ARM. This application need to pass raw image data to the application running on M4, which process the raw image and send it back to the application running on ARM.

Currently I am trying to with sample application which runs on arm and passes string to application on M4(using RTOS example ex02_messageq) and print it.

Hi, Vikram,

TI suggests using IPC. Please refer to the IPC Guide, processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Processor_SDK_Linux_IPC

The Linux ProcSDK release has IPU examples in the filesystem in /lib/firmware. These test examples can be found in RTOS ProcSDK in IPC package. When Linux Kernel booting up, the remoteproc will find the hardcoded IPU image files to download to IPU and start running.

Thanks for reply. I was able to download the image to IPU and run the application(message queue application) and see the logs.

Is there any application which illustrates shared memory usage for bigger data exchange (in MB's) between application processor and M4. As we want give the raw image captured in application processor to M4.

Vikram,

I think you mean one of the methods, Big Data IPC, mentioned in the Multi-Ways of ARM/DSP Communication document for ARM and M4, correct? We only have Big Data IPC example between ARM and DSP. You may want to take look in the big data wiki page and the example for DSP to see how it is done and port it to M4.

Thanks Rex. Is there any document, which explains the steps for porting to M4 or things to be taken care while porting to M4.

I am not familiar with the coding on RTOS side. Please submit a new thread for it. The RTOS engineer should be able to help you. As what was said, you may want to dig through RTOS Developer's Guide, processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Processor_SDK_RTOS_Software_Developer_Guide.
