efuse and cpefuse

In the OMAP3 technical reference manual, it mentioned:

eFuse: A one-time programmable memory location usually set at the factory

It is an interesting feature. Can we use the eFuse to store information of our product such as MAC address and serial number? If it is true, it will be very useful for us to have flash memory in each unit has the same content.

BTW, what's difference between cpefuse and efuse?

Thanks for your time.

  • Hi Hsueh-szu Yang:

The eFuse bits are configured in the factory by TI.  In the OMAP35x device, they cannot be used to store information such as MAC address and serial number.  CPEFUSE means "Customer Programmable eFuse".  However, Customer Programmable eFuses are not supported on the OMAP35x.
