AM5726: Drop in replacement

Hello Processors team,

Is the AM5726 a true drop-in replacement for the AM5728 in terms of hardware? The customer is not using BB2B, Display Subsystem, IVA or GPU.

I checked the Ball Characteristics table in the datasheet and don't see any surprises. I'm concerned about something like an extra ground pad somewhere or maybe some change to a crystal, for example.

Hi Darren,
For pin termination concerns the section you're interested in is 4.1 and 4.1.1 of the datasheet covering "terminal assignment". I'm not from the software team so I do not know what additional software changes might be needed. Someone knowledgeable there can comment.

Sorry but it wasn't clear from your answer. Is it a drop in replacement from a hardware point of view? The customer is not using any of the pin-muxed features that only show up in the AM5728.

Yes absolutely it is a drop in replacement. There should be no doubt about it.
