AM3352: Vpp pin connection

Part Number: AM3352

Hi,

customer need to know, how to handle VPP pin M5 in ZCZ package (open, GND or dedicated voltage rail) ?

  • VPP is used for eFuse programming and should be open, at least for GP parts. (To quote the am335x datasheet, "During functional operation, this pin is a no connect.")

  • Hi DJ-NG,

Matthijs comment is correct. Please refer also to the below e2e threads for more details:

  • Pavel,

    thanks for that.
Customer stated, that in older designs they connected VPP with 1.8V domain and wonder,
if this might cause problems and they need to change design.
Until today they did not have any problems with that.
Can you pls give a statement ?

This mode of operation has not been evaluated since it is not recommended. You can use it only on your own risk.

I can't say what the impact of this error can be, as this isn't documented anywhere. However this is the voltage supply for programming the processor e-fuses, so results can be unpredictable.

The issue with connecting VPP to VDD is that there is a possibility of some current path between the supplies based on how this is shorted and during power up/down.

This issue may cause FUSE ROM damage or data corruption.

    Pavel
