TMS320C6678: Situation on OpenCL support on Advantech DSP-8682 and TMS320C6678 processor

Good Day!

Can someone tell does TMS320C6678 supports OpenCL programming?

I've checked forum for that question. Latest update on that question was posted 2 years ago. What's now? Does anything changed?

I've found also youtube video 'OpenCL on Keystone Multicore Processors' on TI channel. There were some references in video on

TMDSEV6678LE board and Advantech boards.

I want to use in my development Advantech DSP-8682 Full-length PCI Express Card with 8 TMS320C6678 DSPs. Does TI supports OpenCL on Advantech DSP-8682?

And does TI supports OpenCL on TMS320C6678 processor at all for now?

I've read slides. Am I right that only devices which contains ARM Core are able to support OpenCL? ARM Core is needed as Host device. And that means that TMS320C6678 does not support OpenCL for that reason?

Hi,

Yes, that is correct. See the downloads.ti.com/.../index.html then introduction for what processor is supported, C6678 only has DSP cores, no ARM, you can't run openCL.

And one more question, Eric!
I've found explaining of how to use OpenCL with exernal Host device as described in spry231.pdf due to Figure 5: OpenCL HPC Mandelbrot demo with Advantech DSPC 8681. I see that there is external Host connected by PCIe lanes wirth 4x C6678 Processors on board.
1. Does Host device have to be TI device?
2. Is it enough of TI drivers and software to run such OpenCL program with external host? Or some drivers or libs have to be written by user?
3. What software and drivers and libs are needed?
4. Can I use motherboard with more than one DSPC8681 board on it? Does this configuration friendly with TI OpenMP software?
5. I have pretty high requirements on speed and efficiency of transfering data through PCIe from one device to another . What about efficiency of PCIe data transferring of approach of using OpenCL with external Host in and what about it's comparison with default methods of PCIe transferring without using OpenCL?
