EVMK2HX: SOC power failure error

Hi,Everyone

I bought a new EVMK2HX, but "soc power failure" was displayed on the LCD.
I tried the following UCD recovery procedure, but it did not improve.

The UCD recovery procedure is as follows.

1.Download (* A) UCD_Configuration_Standard_Release.zip referring to
"UCD Power Management Modules In-Field Update".

2.Copy (* B) UCD_Update_Tool_Rev 1 _ 1. Zip from the disk included in EVMK2Hx.

3.Install Python and PySerial referring to the pdf below.

4.I executed bmc_tool.py included in the compressed file of (* B) from the command line.
C: \ Python 27> python bmc_tool.py

5.After selecting the BMC port from the UI screen of bmc_tool.py, press the Open button,
Select the UCD 9244 _ 52 _ A 05. Txt included in the compressed file of (* A) and press the Execute button.

6.After executing the above procedure, waiting for a while,
"Finished sending all commands" message was displayed.(No Error)

You mentioned that in step 2 you copied UCD_Update_Tool_Rev 1 _ 1. Zip from disk. Did you check if line 239 of bmc_tool.py has the following change?

if 'I2CWrite' in line and len(line) < 256:

If not, please download the latest from wfcache.advantech.com/.../UCD_Configuration_Standard_Release.zip

Please also update all 3 configuration files in the package and give it a try to see if it resolves the issue.

Thank you for your comment.
I am executing with the default value (70) as it is on line 239.
Currently, EVM is not at hand, so we can not confirm immediately.
However, in the following E2E there is description that it was not improved even if it changed from 70 to 256.

Hi, Hidekazu,

The link you provided has the issue resolved dated 4/18. The customer posted that the problem for him was not having correct value in line 239. The other customer failed with the update which posted on 5/11. What I see is that he shouldn't need to set the dip switch to No Boot mode.

Be sure to use the bmc_tool.py file dated from 2016. The older one provided originally with the EVM is known to have a deficiency which provides a false success.This has been fixed in the latest BMC tools. Please download it from Advantech website,

The latest UCD workaround for the SoC Power Failure issue is known to be robust when applied correctly.

Hi Rex,

This is Hitoshi an FAE for TIJ.
UCD update has been done accordingly.

I have modified the number from 70 to 256 as follows:
If 'I2CWrite' in line and len(line) < 256:

After that, "BOOT COMPLETE" was shown and "SOC POWER FAILURE" was disappeared.
All three files were updated.
UCD9090_104_A04_TI_30%_20151120.txt
UCD9244_52_A05.txt
UCD9244_78_A04.txt

Will take care of the EVM.
