My customer as an issue with IEEE1588 integration, that is detailed below.

We are now integrating the IEEE1588 support in one of our AM335x based boards. Due to the PTP power profile, we need to implement PTP in layer 2 (we cannot support the power profile with the UDP based synchronization). During our first tests, we have seen that the driver (Linux Kernel 3.14) doesn't generate any IEEE1588 event when PTP frames arrive.
In the meantime, we have been also looking some Internet forums and we have found that the CPSW Version 2 does not support 1588 over layer 2.
- Could you tell us is it true?
- If so, what is the version of the CPSW integrated into the AM335x controllers?
- Could you please tell us if the AM335x we are using is capable to synchronize via 1588 layer 2 (not UDP)?
