Hi All,

We try to Read/ Write some data to/from on the NOR Memory

1) Is there any use case in which APIs are used like NOR_open, NOR_writeByte?

2) We want to communicate without CCS and JTAG, Is that possible and how??

Hi Pratik,

which SDK you use? If you use Vison SDK 3.1 you can check the example here:

PROCESSOR_SDK_VISION_03_01_00_00\ti_components\drivers\pdk_01_08_00_16\packages\ti\csl\example\gpmc\nor_read_write

Currently, i am using Vision SDK 3.0

I referred this example but there is no API for reading in this example

1) How I compile the example

I am compiling using
make -s examples
at this path
/ti_components/drivers/pdk_01_07_00_16/packages/ti/build

is this right or not?

2) How can I run on EVM board this example?

Hi Pratik,

You will get a binary for this examples in packages/ti/binary/nor_read_write folder.
If you don't have CCS, you can boot this example using SBL and SD boot.

Hi Rishabh,

We got the binary file csl_nor_read_write_app_a15_0_release.xa15fg

How this binary file can we boot directly from the sd card?
Can we need some extra binary files like MLO with this file or not while boot from SD card?

Hi Pratik,

You can create app image of this binary by setting <app_name>_SBL_APPIMAGEGEN=yes in csl_component.mk and exporting it.
Then you need to copy AppImage to SD card along with sbl MLO.
SBL build command is: gmake -j -s sbl BOARD=tda2xx-evm CORE=a15_0 BOOTMODE=sd
This will build the executable as well as the MLO (pdk\packages\ti\binary\sbl\sd\opp_nom\tda2xx-evm\MLO).

I copy both files in SD card and boot from SD card but I get this kind of error PFA

1) csl_nor_read_write_app_a15_0_release.appimage

2) MLO

Hi Pratik,

You need to rename csl_nor_read_write_app_a15_0_release.appimage to AppImage while copying to SD card.

I am facing problem-related to CFI Query

When I try to run this example I got query failed and after NOR initialization failed problem

Currently, my core is a15_0 in TDA2XX

Any suggestion you can give me??

Hi Pratik,

Board modification is needed on the EVM to access the NOR flash.
Can you please check "Board Modification" chapter in SBL user guide.

We successfully run this example on EVM board.

But we have to run this example in any usecases of vision sdk so how can we do that?

Hi Pratik,

For doing this you will have to add NOR functionality to VSDK Utils or add it to one of the existing use cases.
Can you please specify exactly what is the use case that you want to achieve so that I can help you better.

Hi Partik,

NOR memory can be read either using EDMA or CPU.
You can check API SBLUtilsNorRead defined in ti_components/drivers/<pdk>/packages/ti/boot/sbl_auto/sbl_utils/src/tda2xx/sbl_utils_tda2xx.c.

Hi Pratik,

You can take the NOR API implementation from SBL Utils, modify it accordingly and write a new file called utils_nor.c. This file can be added in vision_sdk\links_fw\src\rtos\utils_common\src and you can call these Util APIs from your use case.

Hi Pratik,

Initially the thread was about running nor_read_write example from Vision SDK use case. In case you just want reads then you can read NOR like a flat memory. In case you want to have write functionality then only you need to add the APIs from nor_read_write example as explained above.
