AM5728: H.264 encoder support for Capped-VBR

Hi,

Does H264_Encoder_HDVICP 2 support the Capped-VBR?
The Capped-VBR seems to function such that even if encoding video at variable bit rate, attaching this option will not generate data exceeding the specified bit rate.

Which of the codec side and the firmware (gstreamer, openmax, Codec engine etc.) that controls it corresponds to?

Hello,

You could check h264 enc user guide for more information regarding VBR.
I would recommend you to check videnc2test demo. The source code could be find here:
git.ti.com/.../videnc2test.c
The gst-inspect ducatih264enc could be use in gstreamer case to print you the enc's properties.

I understand VBR supports by looking at codec's user guide, but I did not know whether Capped-VBR supports it.
Is it implemented on the application side?
Please check the difference between VBR and Capped-VBR.

Hi Shigehiro Tsuda,

Its not directly supported in H.264 Encoder. But, this should be done using maxBitrate. Please refer Encoder Userguide for Appendix N
Rate Control - High Fidelity Variable Bitrate

Something similar to Capped-VBR!

I understand that it is not directly supported by H.264 encoder, it can be done using maxBitrate.
I understood that HF-VBR is similar to it.
