Linux/TDA2HV: NOR Initialization Failed

Hi All,

I am working on TDA2HV custom board.

Our NOR is same as TDA2xEVM board but the only difference is in EVM board there is 64 MB NOR while our custom board has 32 MB NOR.

I want to run an example of csl_nor_read_write from Vision SDK 3.1 on custom board

So what changes I have to do in the example?

Hardware setup in both EVM and custom board are same.

I am getting NOR initialization failed ERROR.

Hi Pratik,

You need to update GPMC_ConfigNorDefault as per the connected NOR. This table is used to update GPMC_CONFIG registers.
If the custom board has different pin mux then you should take care of that as well.

Where can I get the table for the GPMC_CONFIG registers for TDA2HV? Any reference?

This table is defined in main.c of nor_read_write app.

Hi Rishabh,

We used already main.c file for example and in an example the GPMC_CONFIG registers are configured.

1) Is there I have to change the values or we use same values and which value I need to change??

2) According to what we have to change the GPMC_CONFIG values?

3) In that example, while NOR_open function calling the value which I get of command set is 0xFFFF but it should 0x0004 for AMD.
So can you say that what is the exact problem??

Hi Pratik,

In the application when you are calling GPMCMaskAddrSet the size is being set as 64 MB. Can you change it to 32 MB and try.
Can you please confirm if I have understood your question correctly that the custom board as same NOR flash as that of EVM which is Spansion Asynchronous, only size is different.

Hi Rishabh,

Yaa hardware configuration is same on both EVM and Custom Board.
We changed the MACRO of GPMCMaskAddrSet in ti_components example to 32 MB but it is not working. We get CFI query failed error.

And we also try to configure the example in the VISION_SDK use cases but it didn't work properly. Our program is struct at the time of running.
If we add the printf at the starting of the program but it is not shown in the output.

Hi Pratik,

Can you please check if you have set the switch SW5 correctly for accessing NOR?

If yes then try the csl_nor_read_write example on EVM and see if it works for you.

Hi Rishabh,

We successfully run the example on the EVM board.

But in case of a custom board, it is not working.
Our register configured for NOR and all the connections are connected as NOR but it is not working.
CFI Query still coming.

Hi Pratik,

Can you set up a webex call at 11 am IST tomorrow to debug this issue further.
Meanwhile also check if the pin mux is done properly.
