AM3359: EtherCAT FoE update error

Hello

I am trying to update the application using FoE by following the instructions mentioned in the below link.

But I am getting an error on ICEv2: "Failed to download file to Box1.........ADS Error device has a timeout". I have attached the screenshot of the error.

I am using processor_sdk_rtos_am335x_4_00_00_04 and PRU-ICSS-EtherCAT_Slave_01.00.04.02. I have generated the ESI file using SSC tool and followed the instructions mentioned for building the ethercat_slave_full_AM335x_arm project. The project is working fine to do all the communication with TwinCAT and I can exchange PDOs in OP mode.

Now I wanted to use the FoE feature for upgrading the application remotely. But I am facing this issue.

The step below is only needed when using the demo code. When using the full application this code is included.

We have tested both the 1.0.5 and 1.0.4 releases and they are working correctly . We also tested with a the ESI file generated from the SSC which also worked.

Have you made any other modifications ?

We have made a number of good improvements on the latest release - we recommend it for your consideration.

Hello David,
I am using a custom board.
I wanted to know if you or your team is aware about this error. I checked with Wireshark trace and see that the master sends four file segments. Segments 0, 1 and 2 are replied with an acknowledge by the slave, but segment 3 is not acknowledged by the slave node.
The reason for this error is that the ETherCAT slave node (in this case TI sitara AM3359) is not acknowledging the file segment from TwinCAT.
So where in slave application code do we check this?

Hello Paula and David,

We are using a different SPI Flash chip on the custom board. The Flash erase command for this chip does not support the 4k sector size so I updated the sector size and command accordingly. The FoE application tries to flash erase before writing and thus the timeout occurred earlier.

It is working now.
