Linux/TCIEVMK2X: Enable usbtty in u-boot

Part Number: TCIEVMK2X
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCI6638K2K

Tool/software: Linux

Hi,

We want to enable the usbtty feature in u-boot which would make the Keystone CPU on TCIEVMK2X appear as a USB-Serial port (CDC or ACM) to a computer connected to it.

In this case, at boot up, the TCI6638K2K will provide a u-boot console over the emulated serial port to any computer connected to it over USB. The computer would be running minicom or hyperterminal.

TCI6638K2K will act as a USB device and not a USB host.

Before I play around with these settings, I wanted to know, what kind of cable would I require to connect my laptop to TCIEVMK2X.

Both TCIEVMK2X and my computer have a Type A port.

Just connecting d+ to d+ , d- to d- and gnd to gnd would work?
I want to leave the vcc signal unconnected because if the TCIEVMK2X boots beyond u-boot into linux and switches to usb host mode, I dont want the laptop or TCIEVMK2X's usb ports to be fried because both of them were trying to push power to the usb port. I am sure there would be protections, but I don't want to risk it.
