DRA725: drive strength of HDMI interface

Part Number: DRA725

Hi Expert,

Is there any configuration to control the drive strength of HDMI interface of DRA72x? My customer want to lower the current to low the EMC /RE.  Any suggestion except spectrum spread?

Best Regards.

  • Marvin,

Unfortunately the controls for the HDMI PHY drive strength are not user configurable. You are also correct that Spread Spectrum Clocking is not available for HDMI.

We have not had any DRA7xx HDMI EMI issues to date with any customers. Given that HDMI is a low voltage, differential signal transmission, EMI is rarely an issue for anyone using HDMI.

We suspect that a review of the board layout and trace layout is conducted. If the signal pairs do not have matched impedances, and if the trace lengths are not per the recommendations in the Data Manual, then the HDMI signal is more likely to be corrupted or show unwanted reflections.
