Linux/AM5728: Common rootfs for Sitara devices

Hi Ti:

We want am335x and am57xx to share the same roofts. But we found that the firmware in /lib/firmware is different. So we want to know if there are other places that are different in am335x and am57xx rootfs.

Do you refer to tisdk-rootfs or arago-base-tisdk?

As arago-base-tisdk is more basic/smaller, it will have less differences between AM335x and AM57x.

Another differences (in example) we have in /lib/modules/ and /boot/ folders.

Yang,

I do not have a full list with differences, but as AM335x and AM572x devices are quite different, I expect even more differences in rootfs. I do NOT suggest you to use common full rootfs for these two devices (AM335x and AM572x), you might setup only something very minimal.

You might build AM335x tisdk rootfs and AM572x tisdk rootfs from scratch, and track the differences from the build logs and steps:

For AM3335x device, you should use MACHINE=am335x-evm, for AM572x device you should use MACHINE=am57x-evm.
