AM18x USB OTG driver issue?

Is seems some issue with USB OTG DMA on AM1808. Please enable the PIO mode and test. It can be done at Drivers->USB Support-> Inventra ....-> Disable DMA mode.

        We had to disable USB DMA and remove USB driver patch at the same time to solve OTG driver bug.

        But due to USB DMA is disabled, the throughput measurement listed as blew is not good.  Please see below. 

        Do you have any idea for enable USB OTG DMA to getting better performance?

But this project is very urgent, we need to solve this issue at October beginning, so would you direction us to solve this issue simultaneously.

We had another issue for AM18X SDIO DMA in same project. I had post on E2E see bleow link.

The latest USB driver with CPPI4.1 DMA is available at http://arago-project.org/git/people/?p=ajay/omap-usb-driver.git;a=summary

but so far we have not tested it on AM18x.

The above link has USB patches which have been verified on OMAP35/37x,AM35x. As AM35x also uses CPPI4.1 DMA

(same as AM18x) so you can refer for any DMA related fixes until we provide the same from our end.

I assume now with the patch with DMA enabled the issue is resolved.

What is the targetted performence that you are targetting?  Have you got the confirmation from the 3G modem vendor that their driver stack is optimized for embeded platforms such as AM18x?

Hi ,

    We have the same issue with USB OTG (host controller) port with realtek WiFi USB dongle.

    We usgin the linux-2.6.37-psp03.21.00.04.sdk kernel and we follow the 0001--MUSB-Fix-for-CDC-Host-issue-when-streaming-more.patch.log to merge the code.

    Before the merge, the USB cannot work with WiFi dongle. After the merge, it can work but WiFi disconnect when data transfer randomly. (We use iperf tool to test the performance)

    Also we tried Drivers->USB Support-> Inventra ....-> Disable DMA mode. The Result is the same as code merge--> Can work with WiFi dongle but the connection will drop during the iperf tool test.

    The performance in 2.6.33 is better than 2.6.37. Please give us some advice or suggestion to reslove the issue.

there seems to be other than DMA issue causing random disconnect. You can try to find musb host or wifi class driver bug fixes in later kernel and port it back.

On the performance , we have observed lower throughput across all peripherals in v2.6.37 kernel.

why does it show "*** OMAP 343x high speed USB support ***" . it should be selected for AM18x/Da8xx.

Please share the modified .config which shows this error.

you have wrongly chosen CONFIG_USB_MUSB_AM35X_GLUE=y. You should have selected CONFIG_USB_MUSB_DA8XX.

This discussion thread is on AM18x (aka da8xx) " AM18x USB OTG driver issue" and so I suggested for DA8xx. If you ar eon AM3517 then you should pick up linux source released for AM35x. The latest release for AM35x based on v2.6.37 is available at,
