SPRABD7 Using the TMS320C5515/14/05/04 Bootloader

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C5515

Hi,

In SPRABD7, from page 10, paragraph 3.4 'Burn a boot image'. there are mentioned CCS projects that will be used for the bootloader specifically one named programmer.

I could not find within the sprabd7 document where is a reference though on where or how to retrieve these projects (programmer).

Can someone point me to where I can get them?

Thanks,

Christos

  • There is no answer yet on this, though the programmer project is referenced in TI documents.

Is ithere an issue with the release of the programmer project sources?

I hope an authoritative answer would shed some light here.

  • Let me repeat it since for about a week now there is not even a suggestion.

Can anyone from TI please point how/where can I find the programmer project sources referenced in sprabd7 document titled "Using the TMS320C5515/14/05/04 Bootloader"

  • Christos,

The programmer application usually comes with the board when you purchase it.  Otherwise, it is available from the Spectrum Digital supportweb site (assuming you have SD board).  The website URL is: support.spectrumdigital.com.

I'm not sure why the source for the programmer application is not released.  Why are you interested in the source code?  Perhaps someone from the C5500 Apps team can comment on the source code question.

    Regards,

  • Hi Tommy,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I know about the s/w deliverables/contents of SD and TI kits, we have a couple of eZDSP5515 here and T.I.'s FDK so I'm quite familiar.

Yet as I said, I expected that since it is officialy  referenced in TI docs and used as the main TI flashing tool in CCS4 programming, the sources would be available at least on request, but it seems that this is a bit of an unknown area here as I've also seen in similar posts in the past. The usage of these sources is as an assistance to develop here in our case a firmware with hot-update/flash capability.

SD has its own tool of flashing the eZDSP5515 releasing also the sources (nor-writer) but that is only for NOR whereas the TI tool can be used for all flash types. We will design an implementation with NAND thus I tried to be a bit proactive here.

Anyway, if TI does not release that for its own reasons (eg being third party developed), its ok with me, either way our current implementation for now has a NOR so SD sources are enough for our purpose at this time.

  • Christos,

Let me see if I can get C5000 Apps perspective on this issue.

    Regards.

  • Christos,

C5000 team is going through legal issues to get source posted for everyone.  If you can send me your email, I can work with you to get source off-line.

    Regards.

  • The closest I can find to the program listed int SPRABD7 is here: http://code.google.com/p/c5505-ezdsp/.  I haven't tried it out.

  • Hi Tommy,

I am looking for the programmer.pjt sources myself and I wonder if you could possibly post it to me offline as well ? Alternatively if the legal issues surrounding this have been already solved, could you point me to where I can download the tool ?

    My email is amol_kailash@yahoo.com

    Thanks
