Hello,

I am looking to develop a TI-RTOS -based application on the AM3358. Does the TMDXEVM3358 General Purpose Dev Board support the TI XDS2xx USB Onboard Debug Probe, compatible with development using CCS v7.x?

If you mean this tool: www.ti.com/.../TMDSEMU200-U then yes, it supports the AM335x GP EVM.

No, your link shows an actual JTAG debugger. I am referring to TI-provided JTAG debugger emulation software that runs on the Dev board. So that the CCSv7 tool can connect to the dev board via USB and program flash, examine registers, etc. Does the TMDXEVM3358 board & firmware support the JTAG emulation for use with CCSv7?

Ah, I understand now what you mean. Yes, the GP EVM has on-board emulation support. All you need is to connect the MicroAB USB connector (J40) to your PC.

A follow-up question, this one about the SK AM3358 board (starter kit). It appears that the AM3358 Starter Kit has a USB hub on board, as well as a FTDI chip that connects to the AM3358 UART0. My PC-based application will communicate with the Starter Kit UART0. Can I use the same USB cable from the starter kit to the PC to (1) download code and debug it using CCS , and (2)simultaneously communicate between UART0 and my PC app?

Hi Keith,
Yes, the FTDI FT2232 chip has two ports that can be used simultaneously (one for JTAG and one for UART).
