TMS320DM8168: SGX530

Hello team,

The customer wants to develop video conferencing and Video phones with 8167 instead of 8168. He found there is no SGX530 in the 8167. Will this have any impact on image processing? And what's the impact?

Does the GPU(SGX530) mean 3d acceleration?

In addition, as displayed in the parametrics. It only mentions video security in the application. Does it mean that 8167 is not recommended for application in video conferencing ?

Hi Nancy,

Video Conferencing and video phones applications should be developed on DM8168 device, that is stated in device page and datasheet.

Regarding SGX530, this is 2D/3D Graphics Engine, it enable sophisticated GUIs and compelling user interfaces and interactions. For more details refer to DM816x datahseet (section 3.8 SGX530) and DM816x TRM (section 1.7 SGX530 Graphics Subsystem).
