Hi Sir,

I need to program spi nor flash device and I have added new device, "is25wp064q" as below, in the m25p80.c. And I have enabled its driver with insert mode in the "device drivers/Memory Technology Device (MTD) support/Self-contained MTD device drivers/Support most SPI Flash chips (AT26DF, M25P, W25X, ...) by "make linux_menuconfig" command. After building kernel image, I can see the " m25p80.ko" but I cannot see the mtd device by "cat /proc/mtd" after inserting "m25p80.ko". How should I do if I want to program SPI nor flash in user space?

Hi,

Could you check the following in addition to your change in the code:

1. Device tree entry for flash node should have right compatible property:

compatible = "is25wp064q", "jedec,spi-nor";

Make sure there are partitions defined in DT(which will appear as individual entries in cat /proc/mtd) like:

2. Enable m25p80 driver as either module or better built it into kernel:

3. If above does not help then please post: your DT node of QSPI controller and flash entry, full kernel log using from dmesg, output of lsmod and .config file.
