Linux/TMDSLCDK138: Flashing u-boot and kernal image (zImage) into NAND flash

Part Number: TMDSLCDK138
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAPL138

Tool/software: Linux

Hi

I want to flash(transfer) u-boot and linux kernal image (zImage) to NAND flash of TMDSLCDK138. (host PC : ubuntu 16.04 )

Is there any document, step by step procedure or tutorial available?

I was able to flash u-boot and zImage to SD card and boot up the TMDSLCDK138 board.

I download "ti-processor-sdk-linux-omapl138-lcdk-04.02.00.09-Linux-x86-Install.bin" from

           "

  • Hi Allwyn,

Default U-Boot comes with SPI flash support. To enable support for other flash types (NAND, NOR), you need to re-build U-Boot. Once you have a new U-Boot image, please flash the new U-Boot images. Here is the procedure for OMAP-L13x:
    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../AM1x
    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Flashing_OMAP-L137_Bootloaders
And here is the procedure for NAND flashing:
    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Booting_Linux_kernel_using_U-Boot

  • Hi Cvetolin,

    1. Is it possible to transfer u-boot into NAND flash from u-boot in RAM?
2.Is TMDSLCDK138 support all of the filesystems (ramdisk, jffs2 and UBIFS)?
3.How can I make UBIFS file system.? I download "ti-processor-sdk-linux-omapl138-lcdk-04.02.00.09-Linux-x86-Install.bin" from
    software-dl.ti.com/.../index_FDS.html.

Is UBIFS file is created while "make" command ?

I can not sudo ./create-ubifs.sh in -/ti-processor-sdk-linux-omapl138-lcdk-04.01.00.06/bin , the following error occurs

    XXX@XXX:~/Documents/LINUX/ti-processor-sdk-linux-omapl138-lcdk-04.01.00.06/bin$ sudo ./create-ubifs.sh
    [sudo] password for XXX:

    Parameters:
    image_rootfs_dir ..... "/home/XXX/Documents/LINUX/ti-processor-sdk-linux-omapl138-lcdk-04.01.00.06/targetNFS"
    image_name_prefix .... "/home/XXX/Documents/LINUX/ti-processor-sdk-linux-omapl138-lcdk-04.01.00.06/filesystem/custom-omapl138-lcdk-rootfs"
    vol_name ............. "omapl138-lcdk-rootfs"

Error: min. I/O unit was not specified (use -h for help)

    Error: mkfs.ubifs failed!

    4. Is there any proper Documentation PDF for TMDSLCDK138 booting,NAND flashing, SD card preparation and all ?

    Regards
    Allwyn
